On Blast is an organizing tool for the Philadelphia Student Union. On Blast represents the needs and interests of young people. We know that mainstream media doesn’t have our interests in mind when they broadcast their news, or play commercial music. The owners of mainstream media use their content to maintain the status quo; their framework comes from a place of sexism, racism, militarization and class oppression. At On Blast, we choose subject matter that amplifies the voices of those not being heard; those who are routinely hurt and misrepresented by the dominant media.

The Spirit of Education: The Podiobook is an audio rendition of my book, The Spirit of Education (available as a free e-book at www.spiritofeducation.com). It attempts to get at what education is, apart from what we do in schools (and call it "education"). It starts not with what people ought to learn, or how that should be taught, but what humans are, and how they might take a conscious path toward becoming. Though it doesn't pretend to have all the answers, neither does it elide some big questions.

Science, philosophy, psychology, quantum physics, religion. In all these areas, we see the world based on what comes from others. Which means we're actually thinking with somebody else's head - not necessarily our own. And how much of those philosophies, ideas and theories are true? Thanks to the work of Brazilian/Austrian psychoanalyst and social scientist, Dr. Norberto Keppe, separating the wheat from the chaff is a lot easier today. We'll explore this rich and provocative territory in this podcast. Email me about your thoughts at rich@richjonesvoice.com.
